What a hotel front desk can teach us about designing technology that actually helps humans.
A guest arrives tired. They do not care how many screens your system has, how clever the database is, or how beautiful the dashboard looks. They want someone to understand what they need.
That is a surprisingly useful starting point for software design. Make important actions obvious. Reduce needless steps. Give people context when something fails.
Hospitality is not the opposite of technology. At its best, technology removes friction so that the human part of the experience gets more attention.
The thought experiment: if your interface were a front desk, would it greet someone — or hand them a 42-page form?
